From Taizo Osawa's 40 havineyard in Maraekakaho, planted in 2006, with Rod McDonald as
consultant winemaker. Dark, even ruby-red colour, a little garnet showing. This has a full, open and well-integrated nose of dark red berry fruits along with some gamey secondary elements, with dark herbs, earth and liquorice. Medium-bodied, the flavours are elegant in presentation, red berries and plums unfolding notes of cedar and spices, a little oak showing. The wine is smooth in texture with modest extraction, and finishes with harmonious
forest-floor and cedar notes. This is a very smooth and silky Pinot Noir showing some secondary development. Match with mushroomy dishes over the next 3-4+ years.
